“What are you staring at?” He suddenly spat all over the table. The pieces of beef ball and the fi ne shreds of green vegetable were exposed. And for the fi rst time ever, he pushed the table to the ground with the eff ort of a buff alo, accusing her in a thundering tone. “When are you going to cook a decent meal?”
Mei jumped up and moved backward, almost fell to the ground before reaching a heavy chair. Shocked by such violence, she seemed more silly than scared, with a little murmur. “It is my birthday meal.”
